Thanks for your reply. This is a strange ancestral line for me: I know a little bit about this family around 120 years ago, but nothing much before or since then!
I did visit the 'old Purgason Cemetary' last month. It is at the corner of Purgason Road and U.S. Hwy. 27 near the Troup County line.
There are still Purgasons living on the road that is named for our ancestors, I hope to go back soon and talk with them about our roots. I did find the grave of my GGG-Grandfather, John Purgason; a couple of other Purgasons; and a couple of Wilsons. The cemetary is in really bad shape and the stones are all laying flat now.
I'm certain we are cousins, but you'll have to find your Grandfather's name (and maybe even your Great-Grandfather's name) for me to be of any help to you in carrying your ancestry back another couple of generations.
