Hello,
Looking for information on the Purgason clan of south Heard County,GA in the late 1800's.
My GG-Grandmother was Mary Lewis Purgason who married Sanders G. Duke in Heard County. Mary was born abt. 1848 in Georgia and was the daughter of John Purgason, b.3-17-1820/d.12-02-1890 and Elvira Duke Purgason (relationship to Sanders unclear). John and Elvira were married abt.1844 in Troup County,GA. Their children (as listed in "Heard County History") were:
Rufus B.,1844-1910,married Sarah F. Duke;
Mary L.,m. Sanders Duke;
Emily F.;
Amelia;
John F.;
Alena;
Amanda;
Ambrose B.;
Rebecca;
and Robert Durham,m. Lela Darden.
Mainly looking for info. on John Purgason's ancestry.
Thanks,
Brett Barnes
