Vernon McCormick, The Randolph Leader, 15 June 1994
(ROOPVILLE, Ga.) Vernon McCormick, 58, of Roopville (Ephesus community) died
Saturday, June 11, 1994, at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton Ga., after a brief illness.
Funeral services were Monday, June 13 at 3 p.m. from the Chapel of Tom Stutts and
Son Funeral Home in Franklin, with the Revs. Joe Britt and Kenneth Awbrey officiating.
Interment was in the Ephesus Cemetery in Heard County. Vocal music was rendered by
Jerry Kee.
Pallbearers were Jason Kelly, Chad McCormick, Tracy McCormick, Paul McCormick,
Michael McCormick, Brian McCormick and David McCormick.
Mr. McCormick had lived in Heard County the past 20 years. He was a supervisor in
building construction and was a Protestant by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Jean Gosdin McCormick of Roopville; three
daughters, Mrs. Linda Anders of Buchanan, Ga., Mrs. Elsie Grinsley of Sylacauga, Ala.,
and Miss Jennie McCormick of Roopville; one son, William Yearta of Roopville; his
mother, Mrs. Ellere McCormick of Roopville; three sisters, Mrs. Martha Purgason of
Roopville, Mrs. Dorothy Devier of Tallahassee, Fla., and Mrs. Ethel Hyatt of LaGrange,
Ga.; three brothers, Rufus McCormick of Franklin, Floyd McCormick of Roopville and
Danny McCormick of Graham, Ala.; and five grandchildren and 20 nieces and nephews.
Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home, Franklin, was in charge of arrangements.
