So it goes, Ambrose Purgason father of Ross Purgason who married Lelia Barrett (whose mother was Beulah Whitley Barrett) who bore your mom Virginia and my g.father John Whitley Purgason, 22 mos. apart. As it is told Lelia died shortly after giving birth to my g.father. Uncle Ross as he was called, couldn't take care of my infant g.father or Virginia, due to his duties at the Daniel farm on the river. So he gave up infant son to his sister Carrie Dell Purgason who was married Garnett Daniel, who ran the drugstore in Hogansville. They had 2 children George Daniel and Catherine Daniel. Catherine married a Barrett (big whit). So Lelia and Big Whit Barrett were brother/sister. Virginia was raised by maternal g.mother in Glenn Ga. Heard co. Her name was Beulah Whitley Barrett,( Lelia and Big Whit's mother). So my (Pop) John Whitley Purgason was related 3 ways to Catherine and 2 to George. Blood cousins to both, sibling to both by adoption( but he was never officially adopted), and then aunt by her marriage to his blood uncle (big Whit) Barrett.
