Karen,
Julia Purkey was d/o Mary Brooks Smith Purkey from Gr. and Hamblen Counties, Tn. Mary marr a Smith and had at least one son, Charles Pleasant Smith. His death certificate states that parents were: Mary Brooks and John Smith. Mr. Smith dies and she married George Purkey 24 Oct 1865 in Gr. Co.They had Julia & possibly Nancy C. or Catherine Purkey. George dies and Mary married Allen Goins in Hamblen Co., in 1870. Mary and Allen had Cordia, Mary E. and Willie Goins They settled in Campbell Co., Tn. after 1880.
I believe George's mother was Celia Purkey and grandfather was Jacob Purkey from Gr. Co.
Susan Purkey married Joseph Goins in 1869 Gr. Co. and they also settled in Campbell and Anderson Counties., Tn. Charles Pleasant Smith is buried here in Hamblen Co. in Macedonia Cemetery.
