I have been searching for information about my gggrandmother. Because I do not know her maiden name I have been searching out her married name, Purkey.
Her name is Mary, maiden/surname unknown. She married a Purkey (first name unknown) and lived near Lewisburg, West Virginia. The farm that she lived on with her husband was called Frog Hollow. Her roughly estimated lifespan is approximately 1882-1957+/-. Her children include Lillian (Lillie) Purkey (b. 1897) and Mabel Purkey (b. 1907). She also may have had 2 Purkey sons: David (Dave) and Charles (Charlie), birthdates unknown.
Because it seems that your Purkey family is older, I figure that if *my* Mary who married a Purkey did so in 1824 (as indicated in a followup from Bob) and then had children, as listed in your message, it would put John J. born approximately between 1832-1839+/-. This would put him at 70-something to father my ggrandmother, Mabel (b. 1907)! Probably too old, but I wonder what the odds are that this couple from your message had a son who married a Mary of West Virginia. 3 Purkey's all marrying Marys? Probably not likely but I had to at least write.
I've also emailed you directly in the hopes that you may have a lead for me.
