With all the help i've received from others here at genforums and other online sources I've learned of my ancestry back to my 5th ggrandparents! I'm excited about this but am now hoping to fill in any gaps.

Some of the information that i've found sounds familiar and i'm thinking that other messages here on the Purkey forum/message board contain similar information. I'm going to search around later this afternoon when I have more time, but also wanted to post my information incase anyone else had a match for me, too.

So it looks like it goes this way: John D. Pirkeypile, Sr. father of John D. Purkey Jr., f/o David Purkey, f/o Thomas J. Purkey, f/o my ggrandmother Mabel Purkey. And Mabel went on to become Mabel Cruise, having Ernest Preston Cruise, f/o John Ernest Cruze, Jr. (my dad).

Of course there are questions! One being that Mabel was born in 1907 and all the information i've compiled about Thomas J. Purkey is that he died in 1903 leaving my gggrandmother Mary C. (Smith) Purkey widowed. She continued to have 3 children listed as Purkey on the 1910 census. So most likely, unless the information I have is incorrect these people are not true ancestors since Mary started our branch off illegitamately. *sigh*

I did request a birth certificate for my ggrandmother Mabel, but haven't heard anything and am not sure how successful my request will be. I may try to give them a call this week to see. And then would it even list a father?
