Arlene,

Thanks for answering! Sounds like you've really done a lot of research on the early Purkeys.

There're some other things I've been wondering about:

Michael Purkey has a website that's linked to off the Hamblen County TNGenWeb site. He maintains that he is descended from Reuben Purkey, who was also a son of Michael Purkey. Do you have in your files that Reuben was one of Michael's sons?

Someone told me that Christian Purkeypile, Michael's father, was married to Catherine Diehlin, and also that he married Rachel Archer in 1800 in Carter Co., TN. Do you have any research to support or dispute these claims? I'm leaning toward the marriage to Rachel Archer being a different Christian. What do you think? Who was Michael's mother?

Thanks for your help!
