I am trying to trace any information on John CUSTER age 12, b IL listed with the Jonas and Christian PERKAPIE/PURKEYPILE household in the 1850 Appanoose Co., IA Census. There was also a Mary CUSTER age 14, b IN listed.
Was Sarah Purkeypile a CUSTER? Could she and the two young Custers be brothers and sisters. This Purkeypile family went from MO>IA>MO at the same time the families of SHAWVER and KIRBY/CURBY. My great-grandfather John Custer married Sarah Adeline Shawver in Putnam Co., MO in 1858, it seems the Purkeypile family was there at that time. Could these two Johns be the same?
Does any one know about a CUSTER/PURKEYPILE
connection? Alexander Shawver was a millwright, Jonas P. was a miller.
