The Purkis Family in North & East London, England
Posted by: Andrew Brons (ID *****9824) Date: April 22, 2002 at 12:24:14
  of 96

The maternal grandparents of my cousins were Thomas Henry (born 1873 approx)Purkis and Emily May Purkis (nee Dodd - 1877 approx). They were married at Christ Church, South Hackney on May 6th 1900. The father of Thomas Henry was given as William John Purkis, General Agent. The couple married from the same address: 25 Ash Grove.
In the 1930s, the Purkis family ran a furniture manufacturing business from 93, Church Street, Stoke Newington.
I have not yet been able to find these Purkises on the 1881 Census, although I think that I have found Emily May Dodd.
Has anybody any information on this Purkis family?
