One other thing I forgot to add; LaNell Blanch Purnell was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution... she had traced her own family history extensively, but these records have all been lost since her death. I'm not sure exactly what this group is about (Daughters of the Revolution) but I assume it's some kind of genealogical group... does anyone know if they keep records of former or deceased members, and how I could contact them? Maybe that would be a way I could find out more information about my grandmother.
Thanks, ~Heather
