Your research seems to be going great!! As for Zenos, he would be a great friend to have in any age. Most of the time the bondsman would be the friend to the groom. The bond was a promise that the groom would be at the church on time.<g> That practice of having a bondsman faded in most places after 1900. Sometime during WW2 you never saw that term used. Looking at the facts seen so far I would think that Zenos and Thomas had great respect for each other and Thomas was proud to represent his son-in-law to be at his daughter`s wedding. Then again, Thomas may have been the justice of the peace or perhaps the probate judge. To resolve this you may want to check into the petit and grand jury records during this timeline.
