You may already have this, but I have James Monroe Pernell as the son of Moses Pernell and Jane D Walker (b.1802 in Chester District, SC). According to my records, Moses and Jane both died in Tippah Co, Mississippi in 1843. Haven't found Moses' father yet, but there was a Cety Pernell as head of household in Chester at the 1810 census.

Hope this is helpful.
