Nancy,

The 1830 census for Monroe County includes a household for a Nathan Smith, age 20-30, with a son (only one son) age 5-10, and wife age 20-30, and 3 daughters. This is interesting because the household is just a few doors down from that of Gid Harmon. This is the same Harmon family that married into the Purnells.

The Stephen Smith that is listed in the 1830 census for Monroe County is age 60-70 with four males, including one under age 5 which would fit with your Alexander Purnell Smith, but the wife's age of the household is age 30-40 (born 1790-1800).

Where did you come by the name Euphana as the mother?

Thanks,
Mona
