I have studied the Purnell's of Trowbridge for the last 9 years looking for the father of my James Purnell but have been unsuccessful. However, in the process I have put together many of the families of Trowbridge one of which is your Isaac Purnell. So here goes...Isaac Purnell b. abt 1791 in Trowbridge married on 4 Oct 1814 in the North Bradley Parish Church Elizabeth Wooley also b. abt 1791. Isaac died 22 Oct 1851 and was buried 28 Oct 1851 in Trowbridge. Elizabeth died 9 Sep 1840 and was buried 12 Sep 1840 in Trowbridge. Isaac married again on 18 Apr 1843 Ann Garrett (widow of a Mr. Pond) and she may appears with him in the 1851 Census in Trowbridge. Isaac's father is Isaac Purnell chr. 15 Jul 1753 married on 20 Nov 1780 in the North Bradley Parish Church to Ann Baily. Isaac died 17 Aug 1838 and was buried 17 Aug 1838 in the Zion Strict Baptist Church in Trowbridge. His wife Ann Baily was buried 4 Jan 1818 in the North Bradley Baptist Church. Isaac married on 3 Oct 1819 in the Trowbridge St. James Church Martha (widow of Mr. Moon). This Isaac's parents are John Purnell and Eleanor. So far I have proved 7 children for Isaac & Ann Baily and 9 children for Isaac Purnell and Elizabeth Wooley. I am interested in the Rockville group and would like to know especially how a Henry and Jacob Purnell are related to the Gideon, Eliza & William you have. Henry and Jacob are also from Trowbridge and may be my direct line. Please contact me at
