Puringtons: Maine-NC-MO-KS

I have a David H. Purington, b. about 1805 in Maine, married "Jane" of North Carolina and settled in Missouri in about 1843. I found an LDS record of a marriage between a Jane Bradshaw and David Purington in Cherokee, N. Carolina in January 1843. Wondering if this is my family, but don't know anything about this ME>N.C Purington migration--not exactly a direct route to KS! Sound familiar to anyone?
