Purse, 1700's, Possibly New York

I am researching my gg-grandfather Nathan Purse Bliss. He was born in either 4 March or June 1812. He had two obituaries when he died 6 December 1886 in Antelope County, Nebraska. One said he was born in Cattaraugus County, New York; the other said Chautauqua County, New York. His Civil War records say Genesee, New York (no county was given). Real confusing. His middle name "Purse" may be his mothers maiden name. Does anyone have a Purse that married into a Bliss family? I'm searching for parents and siblings for Nathan. His children were: Marion Elisha; George W; Amanda Claranda; Alice G; Thomas; James Joseph; Josephine Mary; and Alta Jane Bliss. Thanks for any information you can give me. Gordon C. Nagle Sr., 6617 161st St. Ct. E., Puyallup, WA 98375.
