Hi Andrew

My name is Anne White (nee Purse). I was born in Barnstaple North Devon and my grandfather's name was Francis Purse. Francis Purse was born in Colyton and died in Barnstaple 4th March 1944, aged 60. His wife's name was May Purse formerly O'Mahony who supposedly came from County Cork in Ireland, she died April 15th 1970 aged 84. My father's name was Frank Sydney Purse he was born in Church Street Colyton 24th July 1918, he died 11th October 1990 at Byres End Prixford Barnstaple.

I live in Queensland in Australia and have done so for the past 37 years and I am trying to trace my father's branch of my family tree.

Did your parents have a brother called Frank Sydney? Or did they know a Frank Sydney Purse?

My husband and I have just returned from a trip to England and the information I have regarding Francis Purse I obtained when I visited Barnstaple. The Catholic Priest in Barnstaple gave my the date of death and told us where the Catholics in Barnstaple were buried. We went to the Cemetery and found the grave of my grandmother ( at least I am assuming it was my grandmother because there was a plaque on her grave for my Aunty Joan who had died in 1949 ). I have yet to obtained copies of the Death Certificates, then I will be able to get at least my grandfathers birth certificate. My grandmothers may be a bit more difficult to find, but I am sure that I will get it eventually.

It would be great if you are a relative because I have no contact with anyone from my father's family.

Looking forward to hearing from you

Regards

Anne

I tried to send you an e-mail but it was unable to be sent for some reason.
