Harold S. Purtell
of Endwell
Harold S. Purtell, 89, of Endwell, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 19, 2004 after a very brief illness. He was predeceased by his wife, Catherine O'Neil Purtell; and his brothers, Walter, Charles and Gerald Purtell. He is survived by his sisters, Mary McCarthy and Margaret Mullican, both of Binghamton; six Godchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Harold was an active member of Christ the King Church, Endwell, the Johnson City Knights of Columbus, Council #2953, American Legion Post 758, Johnson City, Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Endicott Elks. He was a veteran of World War II, a retired employee of the IBM Corporation, and a member of the Quarter Century Club.
Funeral services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Wednesday at 10:15 a.m., and at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Church, where a funeral mass will be offered. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Harold may be made to Christ the King Church, 1501 Davis Ave., Endwell, N.Y. 13760, or Mom's House, 202 Garfield Ave., Endicott, N.Y. 13760.
