Mark,
Thanks for the info.
There is a headstone at Bathurst cemetery. I have a photo of it in front of me. It reads ....
"Sacred to the memory of ROBERT PURVINES died August 20 1867 aged 48 years. In the midst of life we are in death. Also MATILDA GORDON PURVINES died July 16 1880 aged 2 years. Also THOMAS PURVINES died Nov. 16 1894 aged 65 years. Also Elizabeth PURVINES died August 17 1897 aged 66 years Forever with the Lord."
This Robert PURVINES was born in 1819, a son of Thomas PURVINES and Matilda KILPATRICK. It can't be the same Robert PURVINES who married Caroline PRICE in 1876.
Does the wedding certificate tell you his age at the wedding. An article in a local Bathurst paper says he was 32 when he died. This would mean a date of birth about 1855.
I am sure you would have this info. I gathered it from electoral rolls.
In 1870 your David GORDOM was living in Bentinck St. Poor man's Hollow, Bathurst. In 1878 he is living in Lambert St Poor Man's Hollow, along with Jospeh, Thomas G. and David jnr.
In 1885 David GORDON is living at Penrose, White Rock, 260 acres with 8 horses, 30 cattle and 5 pigs.
