My family is decended from the same ancestors as Helen and Tony. "Tullywhisker" is a place name itself. It is southwest of Ballought and northwest of Ardstraw, and has ordnance survey coordinates H318896. So the Australian Gordon/Purveyances and your Gordon/Purviances came from the same locality in Tyrone. Records from the Alt Presbyterian Church in Urney, County Donegal reveal that our Matilda Purveyance’s sister Margaret Purvines (sic) married the widower William Wallace, of Tullywhisker, on 13 February 1856.
I think we are nearly there, but not quite!
