I have been on the geneology path of N.H. Davis since 1995. Last november, one of my Davis cousins had to get the estate of my second cousin that, I did not know existed, in order and closed contacted me. The lines of my ggrandfather opened up and with the informatin in my Great Aunts Bible and records we discovered some of our ancestors in NC.
Alfred Pervines and Lucretta (nee)Proper Pervines.
Alfred was born 1813 and was Free inhabitant of Sandy Ridge Union Co.NC. Lucretia was born 1818.
Martha Elizabeth B1835 Married William Sutton 12-22-1853
Mary J Born 1839
Sarah Agnus born 1841 married A.O. Davis "Andy" on Sept 30,1862.
"Andy" was in the civil war and was off fighting for the south in 1863 and died of colitis. His son, Another A.O. is born in 1863. This A.O is know as "Ollie" that is what everyone called him. He married N.H.(Nancie) Tomberlin of Union Co. They had 8 children, one died at birth so 7 surviving. The last born is James Ruben Davis Sr. My grandfather. He married Margaret Agnus Holehan of Harford Co Maryland.
When Andy O of the Civil war died, Sarah Pervines Davis remarried to James J. Harkey on 1-31-1867 and had twin girls.
Mary Harkeyborn b 8-12-1858
Margaret Harkey Born 8-12-1868 D 8-9-1917. She married 1891 to Mason Kirkpatrick Brown who was born 12-21-1860 D 8-9-1917. His parents are Charles Brown and Mary irkpatrick of Mecklesbury co. NC.
Alfred Pervines died after a fall from the cotton wagon that ran over his midsection. He died within 12 hours. Oct 2nd 1898. This event is in the bible. My grandfather was born that year and was three or four months old.
In the 1870 Sandy Ridge Census Alfred Pervines is 57 Lucretia is 53,Mary is 21 and at home, Andrew Davis is 2 years old in the household along with his twin half sisters that are 2 years old. Martha is not there.
