All the Purviance family in Ireland is believed to have come from around Castlefinn in Donegal. One branch came to the USA about 1750. A later group of descendents of the same family came to Australia in the 1840's They were descendents of Thomas Purvines born Castle Finn about 1790 and Matilda Kilpatrick. There were several children of this couple including Matilda Purvines who married David Gordon (born about 1817) of Ardstraw Tyrone. He was the son of Joseph Gordon and Ann Curpatrick. There was another son Stewart who stayed in Ireland. These are my family. They all came from around Strabane on the Tyrone/Donegal border. Do you know where any of your family were born in Ireland or where Mary and Charles Gordon married?. There may be a possible connection.
