Hi Carla,Your pronunciation matches that of the town of Puryear, TN.But from the number of altered spellings like Preer, Preir, Prear, etc. that have come from members of the family changing to a phonetic spelling I still think Prear (silent u, silent y and one syllable) is the way it is supposed to be pronounced. It is my maiden name and that is how my Daddy taught me to say it.Thanks for your input.
