Samuel Puryear was born about 1694 in Virginia and died 1748 in Warwick County,
Virginia. He married a lady named Elizabeth who was born about 1698 in Virginia and
died about 1755 in Warwick County, Virginia. Their children were John Sr., Samuel,
Peter, William, Robert, Elizabeth, and maybe James, Thomas, and Hezekiah.
There is also a Morgan Puryear born about 1773, probably in Mecklenburg County,
Virginia, that I have not been able to trace to one of the above families.
To the best of my knowledge these are the ancestors of every white Puryear now living in
America.

Jeffry Puryear
