Puryear Mealer Humphries families of Mecklenburg Co. Va.

Hello,
I am looking for information about William Mealer of Mecklenburg Co., Virginia. Most people seem to think that he was the son of Nicholas and Ann Mealer and that he is mentioned in Nicholasís will proved in Lunenburg Co. Va. dated about 1762.
There is a bond for the marriage of Nancy Humphries and William Mealer dated 11 Sept 1775 in Mecklenburg Co., and in fact they did marry as Nancy was named Nancy Mealer in her fatherís will. The reference in the will indicates that she was deceased at the time the will was written.
William Mealer was on the 1782 Mecklenburg Co. tax list with only 1 person in his family, so it may be that Nancy died before 1782. However, William and Nancy did have living children as late as 1801, because the children were mentioned in the will of their grandfather, John Humphries, proved in Person Co., North Carolina on that date. Unfortunately, the children arenít named in the will and were left only a token bequest, so their names are unknown.
If Nancy died before 1782, there would have been time for her to have had 2-3 children. Perhaps the children were living with relatives when the 1782 tax list was made.
I have found the following marriage dates for Mealer women in Mecklenburg Co. Betsey Mealer married Zachariah Spurlock on 13 October 1792 and Polly Mealer Vaughan m. William Wade August 12, 1799. There is a record of a Martha Mealer marrying a Richard Pulliam in 1799, but she seems to be a Mealer widow and so would not be a possible child of William Mealer. Does anyone have evidence of these womenísí parentage that might show whether or not they were Williamís daughters?
Here's where the Puryears come in. A William Mealer appears in a May 1808 Mecklenburg deed with Thornton Puryear. Also, a William Mealer is supposed to have married Thorntonís sister, Elizabeth P. Puryear, on 9 November 1807. Does anyone know if this is the William Mealer who was the son of Nicholas and Ann? There is an Elizabeth P. Mealer buried in Virgilina Cemetery in Halifax Co. who died February 1856. Could this be Williamís wife?
I hope someone will have answers to at least some of these questions. I would really like to know William and Nancyís childrenís names and if they had families of their own. If their father married Elizabeth Puryear as his second wife, perhaps there will be half brothers or sisters that I can trace in relationship to William and Nancy's children. Thanks in advance for any information that anyone can share about these families.

Charlene
