Donald Puryear 1911-1975, the rebel with a speed addiction

I'm looking for more information about a DONALD PURYEAR, born June 1911, died December 1975 in Grand Rapids, Mi. He was one of several children from the south (Georgia, Tennessee area). As a youth, likely during the Depression, he began to ride the railroads- a bit of a rebel. He somehow ended up in Michigan. He married Virginia Haywood and had two daughters, Karen and Susan. Apparently, he had a bit of a drinking problem and was a speedster: "slowing down to 90 through town," says my Dad, his grandson. I don't know much about the Puryear side of the family and its history. Most of the family that I do know is in Tenn and Georgia. I don't know anything about his siblings or parents. Any information would be much appreciated. Thank you.
