Who Do You Think You Are? Emmitt Smith

Can anyone identify the Samuel Puryear and Alexander B. Puryear that are associated with the slave girl Mariah that is a main subject in the "Who Do You Think You Are?" search by Emmitt Smith for his ancesters?
There are several Samuel Puryears in the book Pioneers of Coffee County, Tennessee by Alice Daniel Pritchard. These Puryear families were in Mecklenburg County, Virginia and the patriarch Samuel Puryear died by 1748 so he could not be the Samuel who sired the children of Mariah, but could it be a descendant of his? Mariah was said to be born about 1815.
Alexander is said to have lived in Alabama and was going to Virginia to get slaves to sell in Alabama. Alexander is said to be a son of Samuel
