It looks to me that there was a recording 'mistake'carried over in this spelling, since I believe the name was originally Puskasch. No doubt this is the Hungarian Puskas, just in German notation. If the Family came from the 'Banat' region of the frmr Yugoslavia (in Vojvodina): there were many settlements founded (1700-s)after the Turks left the area, where mostly German immigrants settled under a mostly Hungarian administration. (The aim was to guard the borders). Since the name means Gun-bearer, the Austrian leadership may have appointed a Puskasch to a key military post somewhere there.
