I'm not convinced that Ancestry's "U.S. & Int'l. Marriage Records" is a great source--if you look at the description, it is a compliation of family group sheets. Here is my recap of the records that I have found:

Records supporting the marriage of Samuel Pudney 1689 and Martha Gloyd(e) on Nov 25, 1717, Salem:

1. History of Salem, p.22 (genealogy.com)
2. Marriage Index Massachusetts 1633-1850 (genealogy.com)
(which also lists the marriages of all four of Samuel's siblings, all in Salem)

Also of interest is the fact that Samuel's sister Hannah m. James Gloyd in 1722 in Salem.

Records supporting the marriage of Samuel Putney to Elizabeth Snow on Mar 16, 1715, Boston:

1. Marriage Index Massachusetts 1633-1850
2. Boston Massachusetts Marriages 1700-1809
3. In New England Families Genealogical & Memorial, Vol 1. p.298, the bio of Samuel Putney mentions "Elizabeth his wife was one of the early members of the Congregational church"

It looks like there was a Samuel Putney who married Elizabeth Snow, but I don't think this is Samuel 1689, son of John and Mary Jones. Why would he be in Boston? So although "Elizabeth his wife" still bothers me, I believe that Samuel 1689's wife was Martha Gloyd.

Let me know if you find anything more!
