After years of searching, I have found a record of Hiram Putney's parents. Hiram was born around 1819 in New York, possibly in western New York, or possibly in Washington County, NY. On his marriage license to Lydia Briggs, he reports his parents as being Jno. (John) Putney and Lucretia Putney. His marriage to Lydia was his second marriage. They were married Oct. 12, 1865 in Rock County, Wisconsin. He says that he lived in Durand, Ill., was born in N.Y. He and Lydia were married in Beloit, Wisconsin. Hiram's first marriage was to Rachel Warren. In the 1850 census, I find a Lucretia Putney, 70, living with John Putney, 40, in Orangeville, Wyoming, NY. I would love to hear from anyone else interested in Hiram. He had 13 children, all of whom were living when he died in 1899 in Iowa.
