David
Your wife is one of ours!
There is a townland (i.e.a rural area - maybe 10 farms) near the town of Doneraile called Balty Daniel. My father tells me that he has a record of a John Pyne owning 58 acres in Balty Daniel in 1828 which ties in with your dates. He believes that this John Pyne may have been married twice and he doesn't have the names of all the childred - but unfortunately no James as of yet. The coincidence is too great however - your relative must be a son, or perhaps a nephew of this man. My dad says that the farm at Balty Daniel is probably where all of the North Cork Pynes can be traced back to, though it has not been owned by Pynes for over a hundred years.
As you will have seen I am trying to collate as much information on the Pynes as possible at the moment, however its a busy time at work at present, so please be patient.
As soon as I have put everything in presentable order I'll make it available to anyone and everyone. Meanwhile if you have any more information on James Pyne, his parents or siblings, please let me have it - it may help to place him in the damily tree.
Regards to you and to my cousin!
