thank you for your reply,I am afraid I have no other information on my Alexander than already posted,so I am unable to offer any link to your family.
In a lot of scottish families it would seem that the first son was given the name of his fathers,father.The second son his mothers fathers name,the third his fathers name.Similar with daughters.I am sure this was not a hard and fast rule but it may sometimes help looking for other family.
