A researcher living in Richland, IA sent me the following newspaper obit. 18 years ago in 1982 Re: John C. Quackenbush b.1916 Fairfield, IA (son of Milo Quackenbush)
I believe John C. is one of Nathaniel Quakenbush's (North Carolina to IA branch) great-grandsons.
"Saturday, May 8, 1982--John C. Quackenbush, 66, former local resident, died April 30, in Glendale, Calif. Private services were held Wednesday at Forest Lawn in Glendale. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Quakenbush was born Sept. 4, 1915 in Fairfield, the SON of MILO QUACKENBUSH and HAZEL WOODSIDE QUACKENBUSH. He was a graduate of Fairfield High School. He was married to DOROTHY HOLLANDER June 11, 1935. The family moved to California in 1941. Quackenbush is survived by his wife and three daughters: See LASKA, Los Angeles; Marilyn WARREN, Page, Ariz.; and Cindy WHITAKER, Winter Haven, FL. Also surviving are six grand-children, a sister, Joyce CLARK, Batavia; and a brother, Harold ANGSTEAD, Lodi, Calif. Attending services in California were Julius and Margaret DIERS, Lucille EMMACK and Maire SWENSON, all of Fairfield (IA). The three women are sisters of Mrs. Quackenbush. The Quackenbush family home is at 336 N. Kenwood, Glendale, Calif. 91206.
