Finally found details but not the text from the newspaper which is somewhere in my files.
John Quadling, alias Codling/Querdling was executed in April 1743 for murdering a Simon Pottle in Nov 1742. It was quite a bloody murder and the family disappeared from the local records afterwards. The Norwich Gazette in question is (I think)at Norwich Castle Museum. No Quantrill involved as I recall.
