Hi
My grandfather (George Lemos Quadros) was born on St. George in the Azores. My grandmother was Maria De Gloria Faria, also from St. George. When he came to America through Ellis Island they sometimes changed the middle and last names. I don't know if this was the case this time because I can find no ship manifest. Theirs was a planned marriage. He was 35 and she was 16. As near as I can tell they came to America in the early 1800's. I have no other information on their families - brothers, sisters or parents. Does any of this sound familiar. You say Quadros is your last name but you sign as De Lemos. Please explain this to me please it may clear up things for me, perhaps I'm looking for the wrong things.

Thanks
Patty Sans
