Hi Does anything sound famiiar to your mother? Can you give me an address in the Azores for where I can write to see if there are any birth certificates. Is it the custome to take your mothers name as your middle name? Here in the states it can be the womans choice to keep her fathers name and just add the husbands name to it. For example, my fathers name was Stevenson and my married name is Sans. So, if I choose I can have my legal name as Stevenson-Sans. My grandmothers name was Maria De Gloria Faria. Would De Gloria be her mothers name? I hate to sound so dumb but I want to get it clear in my head. I live in California and I am 50 years old. Most of my family is dead so I don't really have anyone to ask questions about family. And when they were alive no one talked about their history. Let me know what your mother knows Patty Sans
