Hi there! I just wrote a long response and somehow deleted the whole thing... at least I think I did... so if you get two responses, you will know why!
My grandfather Guiseppe Quaglio came to this country via Ellis Island, as did my grandmother Maria Anna Amatucci...both from Naples. It is a romantic story, all of these immigrants coming to the US with the promise, or at least the hope of a better life. I have frequently visited the Ellis Island site, and have found out alot about my grandparents (both sides) and their parents as well. If you haven't visited the site, I would highly recommend it. You can even find out the name and specs of the ship that they travelled on, the port of sail, the other passengers, and date / year of travel and arrival... Somehow, it brings us a little bit closer to them and their experiences...
Now, in our family, we only have two Quaglio's left. One is living in the Bronx, NY and the other in Pennsylvania.
