Quaintance Family Genealogy Forum

There are a number of mysteries regarding the name on the stone and why it does not match the name in certain letters that were written about the young soldier's fate. I also visited the site a few years ago and took a picture, which I'll bet matches yours pretty closely!
If you like, go to my family history site at http://history.wdgordon.com and take a look at the Quaintance page. I also have a large number of Quaintances in my Family Tree Pages on the site. If you are in the Virginia/Kentucky branch of the family, your immediate ancestors are probably in there since it's mostly based on Albert Quaintance's genealogy work from the 1960s.
You can also email me from a link on that site. I would be very interested in corresponding with you, especially since I see that you still have the Quaintance family name (my g-grandmother was a Quaintance).
