I have Grunde Qualley who married Hulda Reindal. She was born in 1897, and they lived in Equality township, I believe this is MN. Hulda's parents were Halvor Bendikson and Gunhild Torjusdatter. There is a strange story that he disappeared from home one day. He may have been in some kind of trouble with the law or with criminals, his wife said he had joined the service and was on some kind of secret mission for govt. So his cover was blown and he had to go for her safety. Some years later she was contacted by authorities in Duluth to ID a dead man and it sounds like it was him. My grandmother says he was a drunk and ran away to drink, and died from drinking, in Duluth.
