Hello Christopher:
In the Virginia Council Journals, 1726--1753 (Page 361) Item 4. "John Quarles, son John, Registered Coat of Arms, February 15, 1577. He came to Virginia, 1609, had nine sons; two, John and Richard, came to Virginia, and William to Massachusetts."
My wife and I spent a couple of weeks in Virginia in 2000, and there is all kinds of Quarles records in that area starting in early 1600's. I did not find any tie to my Qualls family and John Quarles of 1609, but all my family came from that area. I was looking for information on David Qualls (Quarles) born 1740 and his parents. Found several records on David, but nothing on his parents.
