As near as I've been able to tell, Jonus Qualls, a dutchman, settled in South Carolina. He adopted the children that he had by a slave woman (the black side of the family is from Sierra Lenone). I'm still collecting information but, anyone who is aware of the South Carolina Qualls, I'd love to hear from.
