As some of you may know from reading my previous messages, I've been trying to find a Cherokee / Qualls link. I finally got in touch with one of my relatives (see reunion notice below my last main posting) that gave me the Quarles information my mother didn't have. Below is the "straight lined" family tree from my great-great-great grandfather, John A. Quarles.
John A. Quarles (b. 12/27/1824, d. 7/4/1862); then William Braxton Quarles (b. 7/31/1842, d. 1/3/1928); then Christopher Columbus "Lummie" Quarles (b. 9/1/1866, d. 5/27/1954); changed family name from Quarles to Qualls; then Walter Qualls (b. 7/9/1893, d. 12/5/1971); then Raymond Cecil Qualls (b. 11/23/1917, d. 5/30/94); to me, Raymond Christopher Qualls, (b. Sept. 1960.).
In future post I will name the brothers and sisters of each member of the direct line to me. Hope this helps others in tracing their family trees, and I'll check this information against my other sources on Cherokee family names. I'll keep y'all posted.
