Hi Barry,
I do not know wether you are still looking for info re: Quan family. If yes, may I humbly suggest you look for de Couagne (or, de Couanne) family which is French Canadian (probably Metis-Mohawk). There are some in the Cornwall,Ontario, New York area. I have noticed that de Couanne name was transformed into Quann since these people could'nt speak French anymore.
