Would like to trace ancestors of John Quandt; his mother Sophia Luth Quandt, daughter of Joakin Luth; and his wife Louise Prein Quandt, daughter of Jacob and Louise Prehn/Prein.
John Quandt, born Mecklenburg, Schwerin, Germany 12 Jan. 1841, was the son of Fred "Fritz" Quandt and Sophia Luth. John married Louise Prein 22 Aug. 1862 in Germany. Louise, born 27 June 1844 in Mecklenburg, Steinhagen, Germany, was the daughter of Jacob Prein and Louise (maiden name unknown). John Quandt's mother Sophia was the daughter of Joakin Luth. John, his wife Louise, their first two children, and John's mother Sophia sailed from Hamburg on the ship Sir John Lawrence and arrived in America in New York Harbor on 28 Jan. 1867. After working a year in New York, John and family migrated to North Freedom, Sauk Co., Wisconsin, where they purchased a farm. John died in Poynette, WI 25 Oct. 1927; Louise his wife died 3 Mar. 1906 in Reedsburg, WI; and John's mother Sophia died 19 Aug 1901 in North Freedom, WI. John's mother Sophia stated on the 1900 Sauk Co., WI census that she was the mother of three children, two still living in 1900. Any help on tracing the German roots of these individuals will be greatly appreciated.
