Shawn and all,
I think I need to share what I already have with you.
Robert and Mary and their children are listed in the Franklin County History. The article was written by Rev. Edward Patterson, a descendent of this couple who lived his life in Franklin Co. So they are real peole and a couple buried in McFarland Cemetery near Lavonia, GA.
There is a Robert McFarland who held deeds in GA. starting in 1799. Rev. Patterson told me our Robert fought in the Revolutionary War, but he is not on the DAR Patriot list.
However, A couple named Robert and Margaret Harris McFarland from Caswell Co., NC had a son, Robert, born about 1770. Margaret is on the Patriot list. Her husband was older and died during that war. If we can prove Mary and Robert got married about 1792, this may be our Robert.
Lines in Ancestry.com say Mary was from Amelia Co., VA. That is just north of Caswell co., NC, so it is possible they met and married in VA.
BUT if this Robert was born in 1770, he would have been just a young lad during the war and too young to have served - maybe. Young boys may have done some things.
Keep me posted with your info, and maybe we can put this
together.
Janie
