Col. John Quarles

While looking at some of my 20 year old files I realized I had a Will of Fendall Southerland that would prove who the father of Isaac Quarles was. Fendall Southerland's Will was wrote 1 July 1789 King William CO.,VA. A copy is at the Virginia Historical Sociey. A typed copy is also in the #8 Vol., October 1981 Bulletin of the King William CO. Historical Society. It is a very long Will.
Fendall Southerland says: I do hereby release unto my son in law Isaac Quarles the husband of my said daughter all and every such sum of money, due or payable by him to me on the 19 November 1788, except a Bond of 450 pounds with the interest due therein, and whereas an attempt has been made,(and it is not yet certain whether or not the same will be successful) to make me liable for the payment of an order originally drawn on him the said Isaac Quarles in favor of the late Colonel John Quarles his father in consequence of a pretended promise made by me to see the sum paid. Then the will goes on and on.
Hope this helps someone.
Best Alecia
