I just found your reply, and this is what I have found out. The Nancy Ward I said was Chereekee was the famous Nancy Ward from TN. who married a Bryant Ward. My Nancy Ward was from Spartenburg SC. and married John Quarles. The following is what a fellow researcher, Bob Willet has said: "Old Moses Quarles (b.1827 VA D. 1801 Spartanburg, SC) had 4 known sons and 1 daughter. Thomaas b. abt. 1750 married Betsy Parker. Very little known about him, but was alive about 1798. Hubbard, b 1755, married Elizabeth Ward. Hubbard died in Revolution. David, b abt 1760 d. 1845, married 1st Anna Wood, #2 Mary Billingsley Mary, b abt 1768 married Levi Mote(Moat)s." "Old Moses wife died and Moses either married or consorted with an Indian woman and she gave birth to John Quarles about 1772. This makes John Quarles 50% Indiaan and about 1797 he married Nancy Ward, part Indian or so and gave birth to 2 boys and 1 girl before she died about 1808. David(abt 1798-1802 d. 1865 Dawson County. wife #1 Martha Byrum #2 Rachal Mariah Hillhouse. Thomas (b. 1806 d 1894 Dade County MO wife #1 Hety Martin, #2 Rebecca Cox,(Benton County Ark." "John Quarles married again about 1811, Frances Winters and had a large family." "Jim Foster a fellow Quarles researcher of Charlotte, NC did most of the reasearch on old Moses Quarles and his family. He did lots of research in Courthouses and Libraries before we had computers. He was the one that said that John Quarles 1st wife was Nancy Ward and this came from indepth search of court and land records in Spartanburg SC" I got a list of these reference/resources by going to the web by Googling "Nancy Ward John Quarles" and ignored the famous Nancy Ward and you will find the page.
