Hilary: I’m also researching Qualls/Quarles in Knox/Jefferson (possibly Roane) counties in East TN. The names you mention on Genforum aren’t familiar, but I’m running on scarce info about this family line, so who knows. Now, I do see on the 1850 Knox County TN Census, the following: William QUALES, age 55, born VA Elizabeth R., age 52, VA Sarah H., 19, VA Thomas M, 17, VA William C., 14, VA Mary V., 10, VA Robert T. WILSON, 37, VA Eliza J., 27, VA Walker A. HUFFER, 40, TN Charles W. WILSON, 4, VA Leonidas M. WILSON, 2, VA So, some pieces fit, i.e. the VA heritage and the WILSON connections. Now, I also see on the 1850 census: Jonathon QUALLS, age 31, born TN (COULD THIS BE YOURS?) Mary, age 30, NC Nathan W, 11 William, 7 Louisa C., 5 Caswell C.T., 3 Margaret L., 1 And, then the family I’m looking for has a female born about 1811 in TN that I had kind of hoped would be related to these other two in some fashion. Family “word of mouth” says Clarissa/Chrissa married a George QUALLS. In the Knox County 1850 Census, I see: Clarissa QUARLES/QUALLS, age 39, born TN. Nicy A., age 21, TN Mary M, age 18, TN Clarissa J., age 9,TN. Unfortunately, the “addresses” in the census for these families aren’t exactly next door to each other. Still..... In 1860, “my” family is now living with a Flency (sp?) Qualls, but Clarissa (the mother) is not listed, and the “children’s” ages arent; quite right... Flency Qualls, age 55 Ann, 28 Mary M., 20 Jane 18 Caloway 10 Marthey, 1 Any connections do you think?
