Abner Quarles took advantage of military land grants in TN and moved his family there in the late 1700's (I don't have my records in front of me, but I believe it was in the 1794-1798 timeframe.) Records of those land grants can be found in the Tennessee State Archives.

Before that time, he is found in scattered NC records for Orange and Caswell counties.

I don't think he is in my Quarles line, but I live in TN and have come across Abner many times while doing research here.
